First Meeting

2nd Reflection

Describe the stage of your SULAM project at this time. (30-50 words)

We have been giving awareness to public via social media on the cons of biodegradable plastic towards the environment by sharing informational video and doing survey on people awareness of plastic pollution. Currently, we are undergoing three contests altogether which are photo contest with the best caption explaining why no plastic is fantastic, Kahoot quiz game related to plastic pollution and best commenter award for the video we had uploaded on our main Instagram page.

While doing your SULAM Project implementation, what is your perception on the underlying issue of Single Use of Plastic among public/community partner that you are dealing with? (30-50 words)

My perception towards the social media community (mainly Instagram) is they have little awareness on the underlying issues of Single Use of Plastic. Even though the government have started their effort on reducing single use plastic by charging plastic bag at the stores, however this effort seems not to be effective because the public do not have idea on how severe the effect of plastic pollution can be.

What contribution can you make to public/community partner’s understanding of this issue through your implemented SULAM project? (30-50 words)

Explaining to the public on the effect of plastic pollution on our planet and how to reduce them are the most favourable ways as for people to change their mindset, they need to understand first.

How do feel during your SULAM project implementation? (30-50 words)

When we started this campaign, I am so glad that I am bringing people to appreciate our Earth. However, it is sad when our campaign does not really have the attention of the public. It is not easy to change the mindset of the people by depending on only a small group like us. I hope that the government is doing their part to share awareness on the cons of single use plastic.

3rd Reflection

Reflect on your role in completing the SULAM Project. Are you satisfied with your contribution? Why? (30-50 words)

Specifically, my role in this SULAM Project is as a video editor. My task is summarizing the whole campaign in a 7 minutes video. However, generally we are all joining hand on making sure this campaign is doing well. on my side, I am trying to reach out to public by promoting our main Instagram page, so that they can follow us actively throughout the campaign. Besides, I am searching for related information to be shared in our campaign videos (which the other video editor is in charge in editing them).

Did your SULAM project implemented as planned? Did you face any challenges in completing it? Explain. If you are given a chance to handle your SULAM project differently, what would you do? Why? (30-50 words)

The SULAM project did turn out well as planned. However, we get so little attention from the public. We did conduct 3 contests hoping for the public to participate but only few had joined. In my opinion, if I have a chance to handle this SULAM project once again in the future, I am choosing “face to face” interaction instead of online platform because it is more effective that way.

List down the positive impact of your SULAM project on the community partner that you were dealing with. Describe the positive and negative (if any) feedbacks that you received.  (30-50 words)

The positive impact of this SULAM project toward the online community is that they start to realize that biodegradable plastic give harm towards the environment, no difference with the ordinary plastic. It is a good feedback hoping that it can change their mindset. The negative feedback that I had received from the community is some people are saying that using plastic is unavoidable and it is not a problem.

What is the most valuable experience during your SULAM Project? (30-50 words)

The most valuable experience that I encounter during this SULAM Project is that each person has the responsibility in taking care of our Earth. Besides, I also realized that changing people mindset is not easy. I had thought that by starting to reduce (or avoid) single use plastic in my daily life, it can be an indirect effort to change people mindset and sharing awareness.
